All of our instructors are skilled, experienced and passionate musicians. They are committed to sharing their considerable knowledge and love of music with their students and making sure that the lessons are a lot of fun.

Our philosophy is "light on the theory, heavy on the practical".
We won't stress our students out by using unneccesary musical jargon and complicated theory. We aim to have you playing songs in your first few lessons. The focus at the beginning is on developing the best playing technique. We figure if you're going to learn to play an instrument, you might as well learn to do it right the first time, so that you don't develop bad playing habits that will slow you down later in your musical career. Depending on your instrument of choice, this would include:
-
the best way to hold your instrument / sticks / pick, etc.
-
tuning your instrument
-
good posture
-
effective finger / hand placement (for guitarists)
-
time-keeping tips
-
breathing and warm-up techniques (for vocalists)
-
how to follow the relevant music notation / tablature for your instrument.
As you progress, you'll learn a range of more advanced techniques. Each lesson, we want you to add something new to your arsenal of playing skills. Theory is introduced logically, relevant to what you are playing at each stage.
As well as learning specific songs that you like, you will learn how to improvise and create your own riffs, fills, solos and songs.

Students are often blown away to find themselves improvising guitar solos and drum fills within a few months of picking up the instrument. You will be thrilled to discover that playing music is not as hard as you probably believed and, when you have an experienced mentor to guide you through it, you will develop as a musician very quickly (provided you're willing to put in the effort!).
Once you feel comfortable, we would love to buddy you up with other musicians to work towards performing as part of a band. That's where the REAL fun of playing an instrument kicks in!
