CHARGES:

  • All lessons run for 30 minutes
  • Standard fee for lessons is $22.50 per lesson. A family discount is available if more than one member of a family has lessons (or one person has more than one lesson each week), dropping the fee to $20 per lesson for each student.
  • A further 5% discount is applied to the total fee if the full term is paid for in advance.
  • Students electing not to pay in advance must pay in person at each lesson.

ACADEMY TERM TIMES  -  2009

For the benefit of students who prefer to pay for a block of lessons in advance, we break the year into 5 'terms'. Teaching content is not dependent on terms and new students are free to start lessons at any point during a term. Each Academy of Rock term runs for 10 weeks. We do not follow standard school terms. Lessons continue through the normal school holidays and students are expected to continue their commitment to their lessons during the school holidays. Our term dates for 2008 are:

TERM 1: Monday 5th January  -  Friday 13th March

TERM 2: Monday 16th March - Friday 22nd May

TERM 3: Monday 25th May - Friday 31st July

TERM 4: Monday 3rd August - Friday 9th October

TERM 5: Monday 12th October - Friday 18th December

We do not open on Public Holidays. If your lesson falls on a public holiday you will not be charged for it and if you have paid in advance, you will receive a carry-over credit towards future lessons.

CANCELLATIONS and "NO-SHOWS"

Demand for lesson timeslots is high and it is expected that students will make a commitment to the lesson that is being held for them. The following conditions apply to all students:

  • If for any reason you are unable to make your normal lesson, please notify us by contacting your teacher directly, or leaving us a message on the Academy of Rock phone number, 8556 2666, with as much notice as you can give us. You will then only have to pay a reduced holding fee of $15 for the missed lesson, to help us cover the cost of the teacher for that period.
  • If you fail to notify us of non-attendance, you will be required to pay the full fee for that lesson.
  • If you are required to pay for a missed lesson, payment for that lesson must be made at or before your next lesson, along with the fee for the current lesson.
  • Lessons continue as normal throughout school holidays. All students are liable for the cost of any lessons missed during school holidays, the same as at any other time. We sometimes have more flexibility during school holidays to temporarily reschedule your lesson time during that week if required (depending on the availability of the teacher). Talk to your teacher  for more information.

REMEMBER, WE STILL HAVE TO PAY THE TEACHERS FOR YOUR LESSON IF YOU FAIL TO SHOW UP FOR IT. HONOURING YOUR LESSON COMMITMENT HELPS US TO KEEP OUR LESSON PRICES DOWN.

CHANGING YOUR LESSON TIME

We recognise that your needs and schedules may change from time to time, so if it becomes inconvenient for you to attend your reserved timeslot, please talk to us and we will make every effort to allocate you a new, more suitable regular timeslot that better suits your needs, subject to availability.

INSTRUMENT HIRE

We have a range of intrument hire packages available for students to rent short or long term (subject to availability). The fees for these are:

  • Guitar or bass packages  -  $65 per 10 week term (including an electric guitar or bass, guitar bag, lead, strap, picks and practice amp)
  • Guitar or bass (instrument only)  -  $45 per 10 week term
  • Amplifier only (including amp and lead)  -  $25 per 10 week term
  • Drum kits  -  $100 per 10 week term (including a full size 5 piece kit, hi-hats, cymbals, stool and sticks)

CONCERT NIGHTS

Concerts are scheduled several times each year and all students are welcome to be involved. Students wishing to perform as part of a band will be given opportunities to rehearse with their bands leading up to each concert. Concert nights are great fun, giving the students the chance to strut their stuff in an authentic rock concert environment and letting friends and family members see how much they have progressed.
